So, maybe using a homebrew there is a way I hope it doesnt sound crazy. but it all goes back to that Guitar Hero 2 controller language.Īgain, Guitar Hero 1 works fine on PS3 with an adapter. I do have an IR wireless adapter of a alternative Dualshock controller (an USB one). Amazons Choice for ps3 guitar hero controller 2 to USB for Sony Playstation 3 and PC Converter Cable for Use with DualShock 2 PS2 Wired Controllers.

Of course, you’ll need a Guitar Hero or Rock Band instrument to properly use MIDItar Hero, but technically any USB device can be used with the program. I'm not sure who should take the most blame overall. To use MIDItar Hero correctly, you will need the Max/MSP Runtime, the proper controller drivers, and the MIDItar Hero software.

If either Activision or Sony (or both) made a patch that allowed for Guitar Hero 2 / Rocks the 80's controller "language" to be read on the PS3 we'd be fine (I'm holding on to my Guitar Hero 2 and Rocks the 80's software and hoping that eventually that will happen). I do not know if you can use PS1 controllers on PS3 (I'd never used one), but there's a path that you can apply on a ISO image from GH2 that allow you to use PS2 controller based Guitars on GH2. The PS3 version supports download content and online play (not sure if the ps2 has.

This pisses me off becuase GH is the only reason I still keep my PS2 around (I have an early PS3 with full compatibility). The problem wth Guitar Hero 2 (and Encore the 80s) is that the GH2 only recognizes PS1 controllers. Yes itll play with the PS2 controller adapter.
